Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet announced their split two years ago, and now their divorce has been finalized, just one day the actress filed the documents.
The celebrity couple were first linked back in 2005, however, didn’t tie the knot until 12 years later, in 2017. Court documents that have been obtained reveal all the details, including custody agreements of their two children, and the exact date of their separation, which happens to land on a very important date. Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet’s divorce journey has been short compared to when they split up.

Just one day after Lisa, 56, filed for divorce from The Aquaman star, court documents, obtained by Entertainment Tonight revealed the pair will share custody of their two children, Lola Iolani, 16, and Nakoa-Wolf, 15.
The documents also stated the exact date of their separation, which was October 7, 2020, on their third-year wedding anniversary.
However, fans of the couple didn’t find out until a whole two years later, when they released a joint statement in January 2022.
An Instagram statement from the 44-year-old Hollywood star read: “We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… a revolution is unfolding ~ and our family is of no exception…feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so ~ we share our family news ~ that we are parting ways in marriage.”
The Fast X star went on to explain how the love between the two “carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived.”
A look back at the couple’s relationship
Although they didn’t meet until 2005, it looks like Momoa manifested their love story back in 1987, when he was just 8 years old. The future star saw Lisa on TV during The Cosby Show, calling her his “childhood crush.”
Jason’s childhood dreams came true in 2005 when he met the actress in a Jazz Club, and the rest is history. Two years later, they welcomed their first daughter, Lola Iolani Momoa.
No time was wasted as in 2008, Bonet revealed she was pregnant with her second. They welcomed their son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa, in December that year.
Nine years later, the couple ‘secretly’ tied the knot in Topanga, California, and a month later made their debut as a married couple on the Red Carpet at the Justice League premiere.
Although they didn’t announce their separation until 2022, it was just two years after their marriage when Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet split before their official divorce.
