She then joined the boy band 98 Degrees on tour and burst onto the music scene with her own debut release, Sweet Kisses, in 1999. The star singer of the pop group, Nick Lachey in 2002, before landing their famous show, Newlyweds.

The star’s Pottery Barn video sparked concern

In November, Jessica and her daughter Birdie starred in a Pottery Barn Kids ad as they showed off her stunning bedroom decor.

However, from the comments, it looked like fans were more focused on Jessica’s appearance and weight rather than her daughter’s bedroom. Many fans speculated she was using Ozempic, which had gained popularity with celebs and influencers as a ‘weight loss drug.’

A few days after the ad went viral, Simpson took to her Instagram to address the ‘hate’ comments she was getting. At the start of her lengthy caption, the star wrote:

“I needed to be in my studio today because this is where I ground myself and heal. As much as I have learned to block out destructive noise…peoples’ comments and judgments can still hurt deeply with their incessant nagging ‘you will never be good enough.’”

The 42-year-old also revealed she was five years sober, as she said the most important thing she had learned during that time was that she ‘can’ and ‘will always’ get through it.

Although Jessica addressed the ‘mean comments’ at the time of the video going viral, she recently addressed how she actually lost weight in an interview with Bustle.

Speaking on the rumors she used the diabetes drug Ozempic to lose weight the star said:

“Oh Lord. I mean, it is not [Ozempic] – it’s willpower. I’m like, do people want me to be drinking again? Because that’s when I was heavier. Or they want me to be having another baby? My body can’t do it.”

Jessica says her dad is ‘responding well’ to treatment

Earlier this year, Simpson revealed that her father Joe, had been battling bone cancer.

In a sweet post for her son Maxwell’s birthday, Simpson revealed that: “Maxwell’s birthday wish was for her Papa Joe’s bone cancer treatment to work. It did.”

Jessica told Bustle she was recently sitting with her 65-year-old father, Joe, who is in treatment for bone cancer but thankfully responding well.

Joe previously battled prostate cancer in 2016 and 2017 and was later given the all-clear after successful treatment.
