For the longest time, Taylor Swift fans were convinced that the singer wrote the mysterious book Argylle. After months of speculation, there seems to be a clarification about the book and the upcoming movie that fans did not expect.
For the unversed, Swifties speculated that the upcoming spy movie featuring celebrities like Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa and based on an unreleased book is written by Taylor Swift under the pseudonym Elly Conway.
One of the reasons the theory seemed legit to many is the elusive description of the author. Penguin described the writer as someone who was “born and raised in upstate New York” and she wrote her first novel “about Agent Argylle while working as a waitress in a late-night diner.”

Spy movie director shuts down Taylor Swift rumors
From being an award-winning singer-songwriter to director, there is nothing that Taylor Swift can’t excel at. So some fans were sure that the music icon could be behind the name Elly Conway, with the spy novel her debut in the literary world.
But the spy movie‘s director Matthew Vaughn denied the claims, saying even his daughter was convinced that it is true. Matthew revealed: “I’m not a big internet guy, and it was actually my daughter who came up to me — this is the power of celebrity and the internet — and said, ‘You never told me Taylor wrote the book!’”
Matthew had to explain to his daughter that the rumors were untrue.
“And I’m looking at her going, ‘What are you talking about Taylor Swift wrote the book? She didn’t write the book!’ And I was laughing because I was like, ‘It’s not true! She didn’t write the book!’ But my daughter was convinced of it.”

Matthew talks about the ‘real’ Elly Conway
There is a real book and a real author, the director of the upcoming Hollywood thriller assures fans.
He told Rolling Stone: “There is a real book … and it’s a really good book,” he continued.
“And there is an Elly Conway who wrote the book, but it’s not Taylor Swift. And I say that because I imagine Taylor Swift has a load of people trying to jump on her bandwagon left, right, and center.”
“I don’t want to be a part of that club. I did read the conspiracies and I was like, ‘Wow, they don’t leave a stone unturned!’ But it’s not Taylor Swift. She definitely didn’t write the book.”
